I was fortunate to be introduced to the benefits of chiropractic care at a young age. My parents noticed I was experiencing frequent neck pain and headaches that often interfered with my sporting activities, and so they decided to take me to a chiropractic clinic. The chiropractor there explained that although frequent headaches and neck pain are common in many people, they can often be managed and eliminated through chiropractic care.
I began treatment and found that my symptoms were alleviated quickly, and more importantly I learned how to prevent the causing factors and maintain it. Today I no longer suffer from recurring debilitating neck pain or headaches. It was shortly after beginning treatment that I started down my path towards becoming a chiropractor myself.
I attained a bachelor of Health Sciences Honours from the University of Western Ontario before going on to study chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. At the same time, I pursued a certification Active Release Techniques (ART) as an additional tool to support chiropractic treatment.
After graduating, my husband Dr. Brian Martyniuk and I moved overseas where we practised as chiropractors in London, England. We treated a wide range of patients from professional athletes to post natal mothers. After a few years we were sad to leave our patients but excited to return to the Ottawa area and offer our chiropractic services in my hometown.
My philosophy:
“My passion as a chiropractor is to help patients understand their injury, to enable patients to take control of their health. In many cases I find that a combination of chiropractic and ART, along with rehabilitation exercises effectively treats and prevents a condition from returning. I enjoy working with all patients from athletes, families, to weekend warriors. I always strive to give the best care to my patients to help them achieve optimal health and well being.”
